Film Screenings for residents of the Asylum Hotels
On Saturday the 25th of January, we hosted a film screening for some asylum seeker families. We had a great turnout with many young attendees excited for this Disney classic.
This screening was extremely successful and has motivated us to host many more film screenings. We have now shown films for all ages and even foreign language films hosted by service users themselves.

School holidays are often a difficult time for many of the families that we work with. The barriers people face are accentuated without the vital support provided by local schools. To address these barriers we offer a range of holiday activities, with film screenings becoming a prominent fixture of these plans.
These films act as a way to create community across cultural barriers. These interactions are a fantastic way for families to find new friends in the same situations as them, with many of the children creating lasting friendships.
We have also hosted films that are predominately in foreign languages. These screenings offer the communities we work a space to feel comfortable speaking their own languages and enjoying a piece of media from their culture. We have hosted both modern and older films to connect with all ages.
This opportunity enables our communities to embrace nostalgia and feel emboldened and proud of the diversity they bring to the UK.
