Wellbeing & Activities Project
Our Wellbeing & Activities project intends to tackle some of the social isolation and lack of community integration that is being faced by many of the asylum seekers within Southwark. Addressing these concerns can be very complex and are always unique, requiring us to explore a range of different activities when addressing these issues.
Some of the activities we have already had the pleasure of hosting include:
Film screenings for a range of different ages and in multiple languages
A partnership and frequent trips to the Horniman Museum and Gardens
A partnership with Dulwich Hamlet Supporters Trust who regularly provide free tickets and are hosting
A cinema trip to East Dulwich Picture House to watch Lilo & Stitch
A chess club for all ages and skill levels
Alongside these trips we have supported the wellbeing of asylum seekers through a range of signposting and forms of support:
We have helped asylum seekers apply for university or training to achieve their professional goals
Have connected asylum seekers with organisations that provide technology, including laptops, phones, and tablets
Set Smart Goals with asylum seekers to develop their own wellbeing goals
We are running this project in conjunction with Southwark Council Public Health
Directory of activities in Southwark
We have put together a directory of local activities, resources and places of worship.
It is aimed at helping people residing in hotels to find out the available services in the local area.
This directory has greatly benefitted the delivery of our service and we often use it when we are working to solve individual asylum seekers wellbeing needs.

Wellbeing and Activities Photo Gallery
We have hosted a range of different film screenings and even taken a group of hotel residents to our local cinema.
For some of the younger residents, it was there first time ever visiting a cinema.

Our Chess Club has brought together people from all ages and many communities. After some community feedback we chose to bring draughts and backgammon as some of the possible games. The group is open to new members, please contact us if you are interested in joining.
